BORDER MEASURES FOR COVID-19 AS OF 5th AUGUST 2020

Vanuatu Immigration has been carefully monitoring the development of the COVID pandemic since the beginning of this year until the 1 st of August 2020. We have received an increased number of requests from persons who wish to travel through our international borders. While considering the interest we are also consulting our border partners in other Pacific countries on current border measures in place and also consulting our COVID -19 local advisory on the capacity and the resources available to manage the spread of the virus if we identify any possible cases in Vanuatu.

After careful consideration we decide to review our Immigration border requirement for entry to Vanuatu borders as of the 1 st of August 2020. Individual who wish to enter Vanuatu borders must meet the following conditions;

  1.  Vanuatu Citizens.
  2. Permanent Resident ( Physically reside in Vanuatu for the last 3 years )
  3. Foreigners with valid Residency permit issued before April 2020.
  4. Business owners with a valid residency visa.
  5. Dependents of the valid residency visa holders who are currently in Vanuatu. (Dependents will have to apply for a residency visa before arriving to Vanuatu).
  6. Foreigners with a valid Special Category Visa issued before April 2020 will have to lodge an application to Immigration for consideration before approval will be granted to enter.
  7. Partners must have a valid residency or Special Category Visa.

All interested passengers to Vanuatu borders must meet the above criteria and are subject to the final approval from Director of Immigration.

AMENDMENT ADDITIONAL TRAVEL NOTICE OF 20th August 2020

ADDITIONAL BORDER MEASURES FOR COVID-19 AS OF 20th AUGUST 2020

Further to the Travel Restrictions issued on the 05th August 2020 by the Vanuatu Immigration Services, we are adding further information and guidelines. Numbers of request from persons who wish to travel through our international borders keep on increasing.

After careful consideration and review of our border entry requirements, we decided to put additional restrictions. Additional information and conditions are as follow:

  1. Pursuant to the Public Health Act 22 of 1994 [Cap 234] (Part 16 Section 113 (h)), all international passengers who intend to travel to and enter Vanuatu are required to provide data pertaining to public health to the Vanuatu Ministry of Health by:
  • Completing the Online Travelers Health Registration Form at least 24 hours in advance of embarking on international travel. This collects basic traveler's details, information to assess COVID-19 exposure and other information related to health and well-being. The form is to be completed and submitted online at: https:/(forms.gle/5Eh1sCMfsaLiWyi97
  • Completing the Airport Health Screening Form prior to boarding any flights to Vanuatu. This collects further details on recent health signs or symptoms. The form will be provided to travelers before boarding, usually at check-in for the flight to Vanuatu.
  • Pursuant to the Immigration Act No. 17 of 2010, Part 2 Section 14, an immigration officer may require a person if he or she is about to enter or has entered Vanuatu:
  • to be examined by a registered medical practitioner to determine the person's health, or physical or mental condition; and
  • to undergo any test or investigation which the practitioner requires
  • Ill. Foreigners who have launched an application for a partner, child or dependents residency will have to wait for the residence permit to be issued before making flight arrangements
  • Submission of application for residency permit or lodging of application for consideration for special category visa is not a guarantee for traveling to Vanuatu. Approval must be given before flight arrangements can be made.
  • Flight arrangements will only be made once clearance is given by Vanuatu Immigration Services
  • All individuals who had made flight arrangements without the Vanuatu Immigration Services' approval will be refused entry to Vanuatu Vil.

All interested passengers to Vanuatu borders must meet the above criteria and are subject to the final approval from Director of Immigration.
