Who Can Have a Vanuatu Passport?

Every citizens of Vanuatu are leachable to apply for a Vanuatu passport unless if anyone under the age of 18 years he/she will need a consent letter in writing from his/her parents or legal guardians to the Director to issue a Vanuatu passport for him/her. If you are living outside Vanuatu and want to apply for a Vanuatu passport, you can have someone apply on you behave.

How can I get a Vanuatu Passport and What are The Requirements?

The application can be lodge by whoever who wants to have possession to a Vanuatu passport or someone can lodge an application on behalf of an applicant who wants to have a Vanuatu passport. The applicant should lodge the application with the following:

  • - 2 Identical Passport Photo (Photo must be less than 6 months old)
  • - Original Vanuatu Birth Certificate
  • - Previous Vanuatu Passport
      The appropriate fee (VT) for the service required.
    • - Child (0 - 5 years) 5,000VT (up to 21 days processing time)
    • - Child (6 - 17 years) 7,000VT (up to 21 days processing time)
    • - Normal 10,000VT (up to 21 days processing time
    • - Express 20,000VT (up to 10 days processing time)
    • - Urgent 25,000VT (up to 3 days processing time)

Why should I have a Vanuatu Passport?

If you are born in Vanuatu and own a Vanuatu passport you are able to study, work or travel outside Vanuatu. For naturalize citizens this means you are a Vanuatu citizen and can stay in Vanuatu and have privileges similar to and born Vanuatu citizen.

How Long to get a Passport?

There are three categories of how you can get your Vanuatu passport:

  • - Normal which takes 21 days processing time
  • - Express which takes 14 days processing time
  • - Urgent which takes 3 days processing time
  • - Child (0-3yrs) which takes 21 days processing time
  • - Child (4-7yrs) which takes 21 days processing time
  • - Child (8-17yrs) which takes 21 days processing time
  • - Child Express and Urgent Max 14 days processing time

If you are in Vanuatu, you can collect your passport from the Vanuatu passport office. If you are living outside Vanuatu and applied for a Vanuatu passport the process will be the same for lodging the application, for receiving your passport it depends on the arrangement of whoever is applying on your behalf to deliver you your passport. Renewal Of Vanuatu Passport The Principle Passport Officer will not renew a Vanuatu passport if the Passport is expire. If a Vanuatu passport has reached its expiry date, the passport holder will apply for a new Vanuatu Passport as normal, the requremnets are the same as applying for a new Vanuatu Passport. If you are a Vanuatu Citizen and you are working, studies or residing outside of Vanuatu and your Vanuatu Passport has expired, you must contact the Vanuatu Passport office for the date of expiry on your Passport. Offences

A person commits an offence if he/she:

  1. - for purposes nd without reasonable excuse, uses a Vanuatu passport, certificate of identity or travel document that he or she knows or has reasonable cause to suspect has expired or has been cancelled.
  2. for purposes of travel or identification and without reasonable excuse, uses a Vanuatu passport, certificate of identity or travel document that he or she knows or has reasonable cause to suspect was issued to, or in respect of, another person
  3. being a person to whom a Vanuatu passport, certificate of identity or travel document has been issued, without reasonable excuse permits another person to have possession of that document in circumstances where he or she knows or has reasonable cause to suspect that the person intends to use it for purposes of travel or identification.
  4. without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, takes or retains in his or her possession or under his or her control a Vanuatu passport, certificate of identity or travel document, against the will of the holder.
  5. without reasonable excuse, has in his or her possession or under his or her control within Vanuatu:

i). a passport issued by or on behalf of the Government of any country other than Vanuatu, being a passport that he or she knows or has reason to suspect has been falsified or has been obtained by false representation; or ii). a document purporting to be a passport issued by or on behalf of the Government of any country other than Vanuatu that he or she knows or has reason to suspect is not such a passport.

Penalties

Misleading statment, orally or in wirting, in connection with the Vanuatu Passport application can, by law, befind up to VT 5,000,000 and imprisoned for up to 5 years or both.
