Entry and Departure Requirements for Vanuatu

When arriving in or departing from Vanuatu, it is essential to adhere to specific entry and departure requirements to ensure a smooth and compliant process. Below are the necessary documents and guidelines for both individuals and watercraft. Ensuring compliance with these entry and departure requirements is vital for a hassle-free and legally sound experience when traveling to or from Vanuatu.

IMPORTANT:

Penalty – Failure to comply with the requirements for entry or departure is considered an offense, and fines or imprisonment may be imposed.

For Ni Vanuatu Citizens:
  • Required Documents: Vanuatu Passport / Certificate of Identity or other travel documents issued under the Passport Act No. 20 of 2009.
  • Passport validity must exceed 6 months upon arrival.
For Non-Citizens:
  • Required Documents: Passport or other valid travel document with a validity of more than 6 months upon arrival.
  • Persons from non-exempt countries must also possess a valid visa to enter and stay in Vanuatu (Visa Exempted Countries).
  • A return airline ticket upon arrival.
  • Confirmation of accommodation or a local address.

Details
  • All crafts, yachts, and vessels must notify the Immigration office before arriving at or departing from a declared port of entry or entering the Vanuatu Maritime Zone.
  • The master of a vessel or the commander of an aircraft must provide a list of all officers, crew members, passengers (including passengers in transit), and other persons on board the vessel, yacht, or craft to the immigration office.
  • Obtain a Certificate of clearance issued by the Director before departing from a declared port of entry.
