In Vanuatu, the Interim Visa is a temporary immigration option, exclusively granted by the Director of Immigration, under specific conditions designed to accommodate individuals who are in the process of applying for a Residence Visa and intend to engage in specified employment within the country.
Issuing Authority: The Interim Visa can only be granted by the Director of Immigration in Vanuatu.
Eligibility: To be eligible for an Interim Visa, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
The Interim Visa is issued to applicants who need to come to Vanuatu to facilitate their application for a Residence Visa or to complete their residential application. It serves as a temporary visa to allow applicants to be in Vanuatu for these specific purposes while their Residence Visa application is being processed.
The Director of Immigration has the discretion to grant or deny Interim Visas based on the eligibility criteria and the specific circumstances of each applicant.

An Interim Visa is typically granted for a period not exceeding 30 days.
Members of the family of a person who holds an Interim Visa can also be granted Interim Visas. The duration of these family Interim Visas is the same as the duration of the primary holder’s Interim Visa.
