If you’re planning to study in Vanuatu, this checklist outlines the necessary steps and documents required to apply for a student visa. Please follow these guidelines carefully.


Please ensure that you make the appropriate payment based on your age category when submitting your application. Failure to do so may result in delays or complications in processing your visa. If you believe you are exempt from these charges, kindly provide the necessary documentation to support your exemption status.

  • Applicants aged under 18: The fee is 2,880 Vatu.
  • Applicants aged 18 years and over: The fee is 14,400 Vatu.

A student visa application can be obtain online on this website. Note that a student visa will be granted according to the period of the program of study awarded to the student.


This visa is design especially for anyone seeking to do their studies in any institution in Vanuatu. An offer letter has to be provided by the Vanuatu or regional institution confirming his/her placement.

For any clarification or assistance regarding visa application charges, please contact the Vanuatu Immigration Department.

  • The student visa application form should be completed and signed by the applicant, or by the applicant’s parents or guardians if the applicant is aged less than 18 years. Ensure that health and character questions are completed and answered on the application form.

  • A visa application charge must be paid for each visa applicant unless the applicant is exempt. The fee is 2,880 Vatu for applicants under 18 and 14,400 Vatu for applicants aged 18 years and over.

  • If the applicant is in Vanuatu, they should have a valid passport. If the applicant is outside Vanuatu, they need to provide a certified copy of the bio-data page and all used pages of their valid passport, which they will use to enter Vanuatu.

  • You are required to submit two recent passport-sized photographs of each visa applicant, with the name of the applicant written on the back of each photograph.

  • Evidence of enrollment in a course of study is necessary, unless the applicant is under 18 years and residing with their family in Vanuatu.

  • A security deposit is required, equivalent to the cost of an air ticket from Vanuatu to the applicant’s country of nationality or another country where the applicant is permitted to reside, including airport taxes. This security deposit is required for each visa applicant.

  • Provide evidence of funds or income to support all visa applicants for the duration of the visa, with a minimum requirement of 40,000 Vatu per visa applicant per month.

  • If the applicant is 18 years or above, they must provide medical examination results.

  • If the applicant is less than 18 years old and will not be residing with a parent or legal guardian in Vanuatu, they must stay with a Vanuatu citizen or the holder of a visa or permit valid for the duration of their stay. The host should be at least 18 years old, provide an undertaking to the Principal Immigration Officer for accommodation, food, and the general welfare of the applicant during their stay in the Republic of Vanuatu, and be a person the Principal Immigration Officer believes to be of good character.

  • If the applicant is less than 18 years old and will not be residing with a parent or legal guardian in Vanuatu, consent from both of the child’s parents (if living) or legal guardians is required for the grant of a student visa.
