Description

The Employment Visa is for persons who are subject to an acceptable sponsorship from an Employer to undertake skilled work in Vanuatu, for a period of more than two (2) months. The applicant may include your spouse (married or de facto) and any children in your application.

Criteria

People granted an employment Visa must be willing to abide by the following visa conditions:

  • The visa holder must comply with all laws of Vanuatu;
  • The visa holder must not behave in a manner that is prejudicial to peace, good order, good government or public morality in Vanuatu;
  • The visa holder must inform Vanuatu Immigration of any significant changes in his or her personal or financial circumstances;
  • The holder of the visa must not cease to undertake the activity on the basis of which his or her visa was granted; and
  • The holder of the visa must not engage in any employment or commercial or business activities unless the employment or business or commercial activities are the basis of which his or her visa was granted.
  • The main applicant must continue to be an employee of the business operating in Vanuatu on which basis the visa was granted and the visa holder has been given permission to commence or continue working in Vanuatu under the Labour (Work Permit Act) [CAP 187].

Change of Status

The applicant is allowed to change his or her Visa status to only one of the Investor Visa.

Fees

The visa application charge for an Employment visa is 257,500 vatu

Validity

The Employment Visa is valid for 12 months and is allowed for multiple entry.

Description
The Short-Term Employment Visa is for persons who wish to come to
Vanuatu and you are subject to an acceptable sponsorship from an Employer to
undertake skilled work in Vanuatu in an occupation list; or
You must be employed by an employer to undertake skilled work in Vanuatu in
an occupation which is not on the skilled occupation list and the commissioner
of labour is satisfied that the applicant has special skills and/ or experience such
that the work cannot be performed by a national of Vanuatu. The applicant
must not work more than 6 months.
Criteria:
People granted a short-term employment visa must be willing to abide by the

• The visa holder must comply with all laws of Vanuatu;

Validity
The Employment Visa is valid for 1-4 months and is allowed for multiple
entry.

Description:
The Development Support visa is a special type of visa given to individuals
who are outside Vanuatu and are applying for a visa to come to Vanuatu to
work in a government agency or on a development-oriented program or project
which has been negotiated and formally agreed with the Government of
Vanuatu and is an official, employee, consultant, adviser, expert or volunteer
who will be working or for:
• A UN agency or recognised international organisation
• An agency of the Government of Vanuatu
• Another entity (other than an NGO) directly engaged in the
administration of aid and / development programs.
Criteria:
To be eligible for a Development Support Visa in Vanuatu, applicants must
meet the following criteria:
• The applicant has been nominated to work in a government agency or
on a development-oriented program or project which has been
negotiated and formally agree with the Government.
• The applicant is an official, employee, consultant, advise, expert or
volunteer who has been nominated by an NGO to work in a
development related field.
• If paragraph (1) (a) applied and the nominating entity is an Approved
Nominating Entity, the Director must receive a written nomination un an
approved format that contain the details of the application and the
nature and duration of the proposed assignment.
Change of status:
Development Support visa of Vanuatu allows for multiple entry and provides
for secondary applicant. The holder of the visa must not engage in any
employment outside the proposed employment activity, is not allow to change
his or her visa status and is not allowed to extend his or her visa
Fees:
When applying for Development Support visa in Vanuatu, applicants should be
aware of the following visa application fees:
• Individuals: 10,300 Vatu
• Family of four (4): 15,450 Vatu
• UN agency staff are exempt
Validity:
Development Support visa of Vanuatu is valid for a maximum period of not
more than five (5) years

Description:
The Religious Worker visa is a special type of visa given to individuals who are
outside of Vanuatu and are applying for a visa to work in a religious capacity in
Vanuatu. The purpose of the applicant to enter Vanuatu is to engage in a
religious activity.
Criteria:
To be eligible for a Religious Worker visa in Vanuatu, applicants must meet
the following criteria:
• The Director has received written notification from the sponsoring
religious organization detailing the nature, location and duration of the
proposed religious activities and the profile of the applicant
• If the sponsoring religious organization is affiliated with the Vanuatu
Christian Council, the Director must be satisfied that the sponsoring
religious organization has supported:
▪ The proposed placement in writing
▪ The proposed placement is in the community interest
• The Director must request a security bond if the applicant will be in
country for more than 90 days.
Change of status:
Religious Worker Visa of Vanuatu allows for multiple entry and is allowed to
extend his or her visa subject to prescribe conditions. The holder of the visa
must not engage in any employment outside the context of proposed activity
and is not allow to change his or her visa status.
Fees:
When applying for Religious Worker Visa in Vanuatu, applicants should be
aware of the following visa application fees:
• Individual Applicants: 10,300 Vatu
• Family of Four (4): 20,600 Vatu
Validity:
Religious Worker Visa of Vanuatu is valid for a maximum period of not more
than 5 years.

Description:
The specialist skill visa is a special type of visa given to individuals who are
outside Vanuatu and are applying for a visa to enter Vanuatu and participate in
short term employment not more than two (2) weeks.
Criteria:
To be eligible for Specialist Skills visa in Vanuatu, applicants must meet the
following criteria:
• The applicant must be a subject of an acceptable sponsorship from an
employer to undertake specialist skills work in Vanuatu not more than
two weeks
• The applicant must provide:
▪ A copy of Terms of reference
▪ A letter from the request company foo business
registered in Vanuatu
▪ A copy of Valid Passport
▪ A copy of Return ticket to country of origin
Change of status:
Specialist Skills visa of Vanuatu allows for single entry only and is allowed to
change his or her status. The holder of the visa must be employed on the
specified skilled work and it does not allow for a change of status.
Fees:
The visa application charge for a Specialist skills Visa in Vanuatu is 30,900
Vatu. Ensure that the fees are paid when applying for the visa. Incomplete or
partially complete application will not be accepted.
Validity:
Specialist Skills Visa for Vanuatu is valid for a maximum period of not more
than 2 weeks.
